Fine antique Georgian to earliest Victorian era English but unmarked silver sewing implements in sewing etui, circa 1830 - 40. I can only surmise that the silver content is lower than sterling or they would be hallmarked. Some mystery of origin, we've searched for marks and find none on the original pieces. A tooled cordovan leather box with fitted interior is an opulent red color & in an elegantly simple style, surprising then to find the very ornate silver repousse tools or implements inside - a bit of a treasure trove feel to it. The silver sewing tools inside are superb! As ornate as can be, the repousse decoration is as extensive as it is detailed! Included are a pair of scissors, complete with silver sheath, bodkin, stiletto, folding knife and, as noted, a later English sterling hallmarked replacement thimble (marks are shown). A beautiful set, sure to please! Very good condition, age considered. There is an old repair to one ring on the scissor handle and the thimble is a later English silver replacement (marks shown are those for thimble). The leather etui has surface scratches & marks, slightly tattered interior and is missing the outer push-button clasp release. The self-hinge spine has a reinforcement in leather.
